A Top 25 Texas law firm had been unsuccessful for many years in trying to attract partners with portable business. The management committee turned to us to evaluate their lateral hiring program and recommend changes.
We had a series of meetings with the management committee. An initial meeting helped to establish the perceived problems of the process and the goals of the firm. Members of our team then interviewed key members of the firm’s administrative staff responsible for lateral recruiting. We followed this up with interviews with practice group leaders. We then presented our findings to the management committee, who then asked us to help them overhaul the lateral hiring process.
We were able to help our client construct a new compensation plan for lateral partners, change the interview process, and help establish an onboarding plan to ensure the successful transition of the lateral hire.
